What a promise, Jesus.
Thank You.

I need that reassurance
because sometimes it doesn’t feel that way.

Well, who am I kidding?

A huge amount of the time it doesn’t feel that way!

I go through long stretches when it seems like the whole world is rigged in favor of the bad guys.

So I’m clinging to that rock-solid truth
that bright ray of hope

with every ounce of energy You’ve given me.

But when I can’t cling to it anymore because I’ve forgotten to rely on Your strength and am foolishly trying to push forward in mine

will You please reach down and prop me up anyway?

I feel ashamed, asking You to do that –
as if You haven’t done it for me countless times

without my even remembering to ask.
