Lazaroo – Monday, May 16, 2011

May 16, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with a willing spirit of self-sacrifice:

“’Look,’ said Naomi, ‘your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.’”
(Ruth1:15)

I don’t know whether or not Naomi meant those words, Jesus.

But they sound like the kind of thing I say when I want somebody’s help

and don’t know how to ask for it.

There’s little doubt Naomi wanted Ruth to go with her.

The journey was long.
The dangers were real.

With Ruth along, Naomi was much safer
not to mention less lonely.

But she didn’t want to impose, did she?

She didn’t want Ruth to alter the entire course of her life
when it appeared there was nothing in it for her

…except to help an old, lonely woman.

But that was enough for Ruth

And for You!
since You ended up lavishly rewarding her.

Give me the courage to take insane risks for others

knowing…

You’re watching.
