Lazaroo – Monday, September 19, 2011

Sep 19, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with unwavering faith:

“See, the LORD your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, told you.”
(Deuteronomy 1:21)

Please help me understand, Jesus:

On the one hand, You told Your people You had given them the land.

It was already theirs.
Past tense.
Done.

They might be forgiven for thinking it was just sitting there
ready for them to move in.

Uhhh…not exactly.

In the very next sentence, You tack on one more piece of fairly important information:

The place is inhabited by fierce, wicked nations who think the land is theirs.

You’ve assigned Your people
the happy task of evicting them.

That’s pretty much the way it is for me, too, isn’t it LORD?

You’ve given me so much.
Past tense.
Done.

But in Your power You expect me to –

“Go up and take possession of it.”
