Lazaroo – Saturday, August 20, 2011

Aug 20, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with deepening understanding:

“If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land…”
(Isaiah 1:19)

Oh, I’m willing, Jesus.

I would love to eat the best from the land!

It’s that “obedience” component that keeps tripping me up, isn’t it?

I tend to race right past obedience
to Your big ol’ spigot of promises

sticking out my bucket
waiting for You to blast away.

I’m crushed when “the best of the land”
doesn’t immediately come gushing out.

It’s not that You haven’t been wonderful to me.

You have!

Far better than I deserve.

It’s just that I thought there might be…

Something tells me that’s exactly what You’re waiting on from me:

Not so much more

time in prayer and Bible study
church attendance
volunteering for service projects
giving of tithes and offerings
sacrificing myself for others –

though those definitely matter.

But more…

of me.
