Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in shy awareness:

“Finally they said, ‘Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?’”
(John 1:22)

I’d rather talk about anything else in the world, Jesus –

anything or anybody but me.

I don’t want the focus to be on me.

I want it on others –

their accomplishments
their victories
their achievements.

Most of all

I want the focus to be on You.

You’re the Big News.

You’re the one who’s done it all

is still doing it all
will always do it all.

The rest of us couldn’t make it without You.

You’re the breath in our lungs

the beat of our hearts
the only worthwhile thoughts in our minds.

When somebody asks me to talk about myself

I don’t know what to say.

I’m too complicated for me or anybody else to figure out

but You.
