Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud…with commitment anew:

“And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah…to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
(Luke 1:17)

John did his job, Jesus.

Am I doing mine?

John knew what he was called to do.

Do I?

In spite of enormous stress, pressure and hardship
John remained faithful to his calling.

Am I remaining faithful to mine?

You rewarded John for his faithfulness

by putting him in charge of many things
by giving him a great reward in heaven
by granting him the crown of life.

I would love to receive those things, too, Father.

But before he received such amazing rewards

he paid a price for doing what You assigned him to do.

First he lost his freedom

then he lost his life.

If called on…

am I willing to pay that price?
