Go to school on Moses, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“The idea seemed good to me…”
(Deuteronomy 1:23)

Oh, Jesus.
Famous last words:

“The idea seemed good to me.”

That one sure blew up on Moses.

He selected 12 men – one from each of Israel’s tribes.
No doubt, that seemed like a good idea to him, too.

So fair.
Everybody has a representative.
Gain nationwide buy-in.

Then he sent them to spy out the land
come back and report their findings.

Oh, they did, all right.

But instead of reporting how to take the land
They switched to whether they should even try.

Ten of the12 he selected came back filled with fear
spewed it throughout the whole nation

costing that entire generation the Promised Land
– including Moses.

Next time I come up with an idea that “seems good to me”…
next time somebody pitches an idea that “seems good to me”…
