Lazaroo – Thursday, January 12, 2012

Jan 12, 2012 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with sharpened sensitivity:

“I will not turn back my wrath…because they have been led astray by false gods, the gods their ancestors followed…”
(Amos 2:4)

What are the false gods of my ancestors, Jesus?

Maybe very few of them actually bowed before some statue carved out of wood or chiseled from stone…

But did some of the people in my family tree worship at the altars of more deceptive gods without realizing they were engaging in idol worship?

Did they trust the god of Hard Work –

believing it was all that was necessary to succeed in life
forgetting that unless You bless it, their work is in vain?

Did they trust the god of Education –

forgetting that people who think they know something
don’t yet know what they ought to know?

Please, LORD…

remind me not to pervert these wonderful values
by giving them the place that belongs only to You.
