Lazaroo – Thursday, July 21, 2011

Jul 21, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with over-the-top trust:

“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you.’”
(Ruth 1:16)

Give me the self-sacrificing compassion of Ruth, Jesus.

Her mother-in-law tried to send her away –

not because she didn’t want Ruth to stay
not because she didn’t long for her companionship
not because she didn’t need her help and protection

But because she thought it was best for Ruth.

But Ruth saw through her.

Ruth put aside her own interests

her own future
her own hopes and dreams

and did what was best for her mother-in-law.

You always reward that, don’t You?

Seldom immediately…
but sooner or later.

It’s a matter of pride with You:

You’re not about to let somebody out-give You.

The moment I make the selfless decision
to put someone else’s good ahead of my own

my fate is sealed:

You’re going to bless me.
