Lazaroo – Thursday, November 10, 2011

Nov 10, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, cultivating a healthy fear of God:

“…with an overwhelming flood…he will pursue his foes into darkness.”
(Nahum 1:8)

I know these words have spiritual meaning, Jesus…

but I’m pretty sure You meant for me to visualize them literally –
to help me grasp the significance of what You’re telling me.

I’ve seen floods – but an overwhelming flood?

You must be wanting me to picture a tsunami –
a wall of water racing across the ocean at jet speed
until it reaches land, towering a hundred feet overhead
striking terror in the hearts of all who are in its path.

I wouldn’t want to be in the path of that flood, Jesus.
No way in this world.

But as terrifying as that image is…
the second is somehow worse:

You pursue Your foes “into darkness”

nowhere to run
nowhere to hide.

The last person I want to be is Your foe.

I’m so glad

I’m your friend.
