Lazaroo – Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Feb 21, 2012 I Lazaroo.

Open your heart – and your mind – as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“The descendants of Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).”
(Ezra 2:61)

This had to challenge him to his core, Jesus.

Back in the day
men were named after the family line of their fathers.

No man allowed people to quit calling him by the name given to him by his parents

and start calling him by the same name as his father-in-law!

No way.
It just wasn’t done.

Well…except this time.

Why?

Two reasons:

1. His father-in-law was a great man.
2. So was he.

When people saw the similarity between the two, he wasn’t angry.

He was honored.

Give me that same spirit, Father!

In humility, help me be willing to follow in the footsteps of another

so long as that person is following in Yours.
