Lazaroo – Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Oct 11, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Prepare for swift action, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire.”
(Nehemiah 2:13)

I hate this part, Jesus.

I’d much rather focus on what’s going well.

It’s no fun whatsoever to examine broken down walls and gates destroyed by fire.

But that’s what sometimes happens

to the walls I’ve erected to keep the wrong people out
to the gates I’ve hung to invite the right people in.

And when it does…

I can’t stick my head in the sand.

I’ve got to face it
understand what went wrong
and fix it.

Because…

when I’m surrounded by people who tempt me to do wrong
when I don’t have enough people who inspire me to do right

that’s a condition I’ve got to address

fast.
