Lazaroo – Tuesday, October 9, 2012

Oct 09, 2012 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humbled awareness:

“They lie down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge.”
(Amos 2:8)

I love this about You, Jesus:

You love the poor.

When people loaned money to the poor
taking one of their few pieces of clothing as collateral

You required them to return their garments before nightfall
so the poor person would not get cold at night.

You were furious with Your people for ignoring this command!

Even so, I confess that if I get to choose…

I’d rather not be poor.

But no matter how much of this world’s goods You entrust to my stewardship

may I never fail to

respect the poor
honor the poor
feed the poor
clothe the poor
befriend the poor
coach the poor
listen to the poor
help the poor
remember the poor.

Deliver me from heart calluses!
Please. Please. Please:

Help me love the poor

as much as You do.
