Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in dumbfounded awe:

“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.”
(2 Corinthians 1:21)

So why am I standing firm in Jesus right now, LORD?

Only You.

It’s not because of my wise choices

not because I’m such a wonderful person
not because I have iron self-control.

You’re not simply allowing me to stand firm

not only encouraging me to stand firm
not just inspiring me to stand firm
not merely helping me stand firm

You’re making me stand firm.

I’m pretty sure that means if You didn’t

I wouldn’t.

Nor does this sad commentary apply to me alone.

Everyone who stands firm in You
does it because You make them.

How hard it must be to be You!
How blessed I am to be me!

Please accept my deepest, heartfelt gratitude.
