You gave Solomon’s wife an interesting way to phrase this, Jesus.

She could have simply said:

“My husband loves me.”

Instead, she said her husband’s love for her

was a banner –

a big, bold, brightly-colored flag
waving in the breeze for all to see.

He was proud of her

wanted everyone to know she was his
wanted the world to witness his heartfelt affection for her.

Jesus, You are my banner –
and without question, argument or doubt

Your banner over me is

sweet
pure
unadulterated
incomprehensible
all-encompassing
inseparable
lavish
never-failing

love.
