Lazaroo – Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Dec 22, 2010 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble adoration:

“When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. ‘In Bethlehem in Judea,’ they replied…”
(Matthew 2:3-5)

Why is this, Jesus?

Why does the good news about You

sound like bad news to so many?

I can understand why King Herod didn’t welcome the news.

He may have viewed anyone born “King of the Jews” as a direct threat.

But the whole city of Jerusalem?

Why them?
Weren’t they longing for the Messiah?

Why didn’t Jerusalem welcome You with open arms?

Did they – like Herod – perceive Your coming as a threat?
Maybe it was.

Maybe it is to me, too.

Because when the real King shows up
there’s only one place for my crown:

on the ground
at Your feet.
