Ask God for His tender sensitivity, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:

“…Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”
(Matthew 2:18)

I sometimes make that mistake, Jesus –

attempting to comfort someone
who refuses to be comforted.

I jump in with my platitudes too quickly.

What they need first
is someone to mourn with them

someone who understands
someone who feels the depth of their pain.

The problem is, if I haven’t experienced it
it’s hard for me to feel it.

Wow.

Is that why You’ve allowed me to go through some of the heartache I’ve experienced –

so like You…

I can truly be there
for others?
