I don’t like to be told twice, Jesus

But…
because of

who I am
the distractions I face

the fierceness of the battle
the strength of my temptations
the cleverness of Satan

how quickly I forget

I need to be told not twice –

but hundreds of times.
Make that thousands.

Just because I don’t like something

doesn’t mean I don’t need it.

Even though it sometimes irritates me to hear it

over
and over
and over

Doesn’t mean I don’t need to hear it

over
and over
and over.

But a funny thing happens to me during that process.

When I automatically do the right thing
in a fast-breaking, high-stress situation

it dawns on me:

this win…
is due to repetition!

Suddenly, hearing it over and over and over again

doesn’t irritate me quite so much anymore.
