Lazaroo – Friday, November 9, 2012

No comments, Nov 09, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:

“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed…”
(Philippians 1:20)

That’s my hope, too, Jesus:

to never be ashamed before You of anything I

think
say
do.

I wish I could add what Paul did:

that it is also my expectation.

But based on my track record…

it isn’t.

I’ve blown it too often.

I’ve let myself down
others down
worst of all You down

too many times.

You know, LORD! –
It’s not like I haven’t sworn I would never do it again.

I meant it, too.

I knew that I knew that I knew:
I would never veer into that same stinking ditch again!

but I did.

God help me, I did.

At such times I’m so filled with shame
so disappointed in myself
so filled with self-loathing

that I want to give up on me.

But since You don’t –

I can’t.
