Lazaroo – Monday, May 6, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with total transparency:

“When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.”
(Matthew 2:16)

Evil of this magnitude boggles my mind, Jesus.

A man charged with leading, protecting, caring for his people
instead slaughters their innocents

to keep his job.

Since You were born King of the Jews
He was afraid You would one day grow up to unseat him.

He was right, of course.
You did.

But not in the way he imagined.

Certainly You punished him.

If I understand Your teaching on hell
his punishment is continuing to this very day.

But it didn’t happen immediately.

You were giving him – even him! –
time to repent.

Just as You do with me.
