Lazaroo – Monday, August 20, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in holy fear:

“…Aaron’s sons, the anointed priests…were ordained to serve as priests. Nadab and Abihu, however, fell dead before the LORD when they made an offering with unauthorized fire before him in the Desert of Sinai.”
(Numbers 3:3-4)

It was an amazing privilege to be ordained to serve as a priest, Jesus…

and a terrible responsibility.

What was the “unauthorized fire” these two men offered You
that cost them their lives?

3,458 years later, nobody’s really sure.

We know what Your commandments concerning these offerings were

but we aren’t certain which of them Aaron’s sons disobeyed.

One thing, however, is certain:

They knew what they had done wrong

and so did you.

You know how You want to be worshiped

and that wasn’t it.

Maybe I need to pay a little closer attention to the state of my heart

next time I offer You my worship.
