Lazaroo – Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with bottomless trust:
“With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.”
(Acts 1:18-19)
What a “reward,” Jesus –
shame
disgrace
death.
That’s the payback for wickedness every time.
Sometimes, as with Judas, it happens right away.
But not always.
Justice can wait a long, long time.
To the victim, it may seem too long.
But sooner or later, it happens.
There’s no running from it.
No escape.
None, that is, but this:
repentance
true sorrow
a fervent wish those sins had never been committed
saturated by faith, hope and trust
in You.
But there’s no faking it, is there?
You see straight into my heart.
And in Your outrageous mercy
I am forgiven.
